Welcome to the Southside church of Christ in Lubbock Texas

on .

Welcome to our website! We are glad you have stopped by. We hope that this site will help you, whether you are searching for a church home or looking for a sound place to worship. Whatever the case may be, know that you will find a warm welcome here at Southside.

So you know who we are, we are a sound, friendly, non-denominational group of Christians who follow the New Testament teachings of Christ. We use the Bible as our guide and we know that it contains "all things that pertain to life and godliness" (I Peter 1:3). We answer to the authority of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18) and serve under the oversight of the elders (Acts 20:28, Hebrews 13:17).

Here at Southside, we are striving to be nothing more than the church you read about in the New Testament. The church that Jesus gave his life for (Ephesians 5:22-32; Colossians 1:18-20), the church he will one day take home to Heaven (I Corinthians 15:24). We hope you will come and worship with us, study with us, and grow with us in the "grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ". To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity (II Peter 3:18). We hope to see you soon.

The Saint in the Work Place

on .

by Greg Weston

During the New Testament era slavery was common.  This is the reason Paul addressed the slavery issue in his letters to individuals and congregations.  What a person will not find in the Bible, however, is an absolute, plainly stated opposition to the institution of slavery.  What we find instead is instruction on how the slave and the master were to behave, how they were to 'work'.  While we are very grateful that slavery is not a part of our society, there is great profit in the instructions Paul gives.  Our work ethic is tremendously improved when we conform to these inspired instructions.

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

Jeremiah 6:16
